About Carol DENMARK

Carol DENMARK Welcome to my web page. Although I discovered art at the age of 10 it took me a long time and two other careers to rediscover it. When my oldest daughter went away to college I became a docent at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). I was leading a tour of the museum in one of the galleries when I discovered a class copying works of some of our greatest American artists right in front of the pictures. I knew then that I had found what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

Carol Sack Denmark is a lawyer who is now an artist. She lives in the Philadelphia area. She has studied at many area art schools, received a certificate from PAFA (continuing education dept) in December 2012 and enjoys all types of painting in oil, watercolor and pastels. Her favorite mediums are oil painting on canvas (for portraits) and watercolors. Carol is most influenced by the French and American impressionists. Claude Monet has been one of her strongest influences since she saw her first painting of his when she was ten years old. Her copy of Childe Hassam’s “Cat Boats at Newport” (1901) shown here is her homage to Claude Monet. Childe Hassam painted the original of this painting shortly after visiting Claude Monet in France. "My favorite places to paint, and visit, are tropical beaches - so I paint beach scenes whenever I can."

Carol’s newest series include angels, tropical beaches and Venice. She started painting angels as a gift for her sister who needed an angel to look after her. They were so inspiring that she continued to paint different types of angels. Many of them have a special meaning and are inspired by statues all over the world. One of them is in Brussels, Belgium, and is the inspiration for a yearly pilgrimage to remember all of those murdered by the Nazis and to honor their memories.

All of her artwork is based on her original designs and is copyrighted - © 2013. Therefore all Carol's art is protected by US and international laws. "Please enjoy my website and let me know what you think."
